The Hotel Caravelle Thalasso & Wellness was founded in 1969, born from the Raimondo family's passion for hospitality and their love for the sea of Diano Marina.
The hotel's design took shape thanks to Piera Raimondo, who conceived its lines together with the artist Renato Allegro, commissioned by her father Raimondo. At the time, the building had two floors and an entrance on the west side, opening towards the sea and the future.
The name "Caravelle" came almost by chance. Luccio, Piera's husband, was reading the newspaper La Stampa when he came across an article about a Sud Aviation Caravelle flight. From there came the idea of a name that could evoke travel, the sea and discovery—just like the caravels of Christopher Columbus.
The logo itself reflects this inspiration, recalling the stylised caravel depicted on the Italian 500-lira coins.
From the very beginning, the hotel was conceived as a place of genuine hospitality. In the kitchen worked two brothers, Pierino and Vittorio, self-taught chefs who transformed simplicity and passion into dishes that many guests still remember today.
Over the years, the baton passed to Raimondo's daughters, Piera and Savina—one at reception, the other in the restaurant—preserving a family-run approach based on presence, care and continuity.
Today, the hotel continues to evolve thanks to the new generation, with Paola, Carla and Nicola bringing fresh energy while respecting the history and identity of the property.
A family tradition that, since 1969, has been welcoming guests by the sea in Diano Marina.
